A mound in exile

Ụ đất tha hương
A work by earth, water, ashes, spirits…
Dimensions variable due to time, temperature and the environment...
2000 years ago - ongoing

Once upon a time, in that country there was a mound of earth which would glisten and sing a fascinating lullaby everytime it shook. Such amazing phenomenon mesmerized everyone passing by. Following the rumor about this magical mound, a group of strange visitors arrived, tempted by its beauty and miracle, they decided to arrogate it for themselves. Using both primitive implements and modern equipments, they tried all types of tools to analyse, split and divide the mound into smaller pieces. Unexpectedly, from that moment, all magics disappeared, the golden-like glitter then faded away, no longer sparkled, what remained was just a layer of dust with gilding fabrication, and also the mound stopped singing... The mound is gone.

The work is composed of 24 pieces resembling the fragments of flesh belonging to a severed body. These pieces are made from earth, dust, ashes, turmeric powder... 24 is also the number of time, of day and night, of light and darkness, of waking and dreaming, of sanity and madness, of reality and illusion...
